The Lighthouse, Scotland’s Centre for Design & Architecture is a visitor centre, exhibition space & events venue in the heart of Glasgow. The Lighthouse acts as a beacon for the creative industries in Scotland & promotes design & architecture through a creative programme of exhibitions & events.

The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse is housed in the former Glasgow Herald building, the first public commission completed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, & is the perfect place to begin a Mackintosh tour of Glasgow. Our Mackintosh Interpretation Centre also charts the life & work of Mackintosh & allows access to the Mackintosh Tower, providing unrivalled views of Glasgow.

Our Gallery One, Review Gallery and Long Gallery spaces offer a changing programme of exhibitions & events focused on the impact of design & architecture on our everyday lives. Level Two hosts Architecture & Design Scotland, whose exhibitions offer an insight into the future of architecture & place-making.

The Lighthouse has four floors of multi-purpose spaces which can be hired for corporate events. Our Doocot café also provides hearty food in an inviting atmosphere. Topping off the building is the Viewing Platform, where visitors can get a wonderful view of the city.
